It was great being there and having the two years with Bren. I truly appreciate the stress free environment she created so that we could explore our own potential to progress and create. Looking back, I have definitely come a long way, although in my chaotic life it might not be evident to many others. Bren's constant encouragement and suggestions to try new things coupled with her help and guidance reopened a door I thought I would never go through again. I signed up to redo the city and guilds part two and, have as she encouraged us to do, signed up to explore in depth another area of fabric work. I'd never have done that before taking her classes. I was convinced I just didn't have the ability. I'll really miss our goup and seeing Bren once a month.  Margy Johnson

 

 I've enjoyed all of the courses I've attended at the Bramble Patch but 'Explore your creative potential' has been very different. Bren is always generous with her time, comments and explanation of techniques. I've met like-minded people and learnt a lot from them. I've grown to love techniques I never thought I'd like and have produced a piece of work I never thought I could make. The course allows you to look at alternatives to traditional patchwork and quilting - but it doesn't discount them. I promise it will really open your eyes. Sarah Adcock 

 

The course proved quite a challenge but such a stimulating one. I was exposed to so many new ideas, examples, and techniques to absorb, consider, and try out that the day never seemed long enough. The class atmosphere was one of such enthusiasm, excitement and creativity I would leave exhausted but exhilarated. Our disparate group (in terms of age, interests, expertise) gelled well under Bren's tutelage. She has a knack of pulling things together, but equally of addressing individual's work and articulating the most muddled of thoughts and intentions. Sue King I have found that your classes have given me the kick-start that I desperately needed and will miss you a good deal next year but as you say it is time to fledge and I do now feel so much more confident. Ive really enjoyed the class it has been nice to be with the same people and to get to know them; its been a nice friendly class. I think it has gained me some confidence in designing my own work, the different approaches have been good exercises and have given much food for thought, It has encouraged me to keep regular sketch books which I have never done before and have quite surprised myself with them. Thank you so much for a wonderful year of exciting challenges and discoveries. I have had a really fab time and looking back at my aims (set in January) was quite emotional for me. I have achieved far more than I could ever have imagined. What you were saying about teaching being at its best when it comes from a nurturing safe place is so true and you have given that to us all in the last year. So, thank you once again. Miki Bennett
